Why this matters
Each list has a default sender and a default language used for the automated emails people receive when they subscribe and unsubscribe, and for the pages they see while managing their subscription. Setting these correctly keeps these automatic touchpoints on-brand and in the right language for your audience.
Setting the default sender and language
-
In the left menu, go to Audience ▸ Contacts and choose your list.
-
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner to open Manage lists and attributes.
-
Open the Settings tab.
-
Under Default sender, use Select default sender to choose the name and email address that will appear in the automated emails people receive when they subscribe and unsubscribe from this list. (Don't see your sender? Click Manage senders to add one. See Adding a sender.)
-
Under Default language, use Select default language to choose the language subscribers see when managing their subscription.
The default language sets the language for the subscription management pages and automated emails for this list. It does not change the language of your email campaigns.
Troubleshooting
My sender isn't in the list
- Click Manage senders to add it, and make sure the sender is verified. See Adding a sender.
The language didn't change
- Confirm you saved the Settings tab after selecting the language.
- Remember this affects subscription management pages and automated emails, not your campaigns.
