Description
Template management is an essential part of maintaining an efficient email marketing workflow. This feature allows you to permanently delete unwanted or outdated email templates from your account. Whether you're cleaning up test templates, removing seasonal designs, or simply decluttering your workspace, the template deletion process ensures your template library stays organized and contains only relevant, current designs that align with your brand and marketing needs.
Why It's Important
Staying organized is always important; things will be easier to find and so on if the work environment is well maintained. If your work area is cluttered with copies of templates you've created and you'd like to clean it up, follow the instructions below.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these instructions to delete a template:
-
In the left menu, go to Resources ▸ My Email Templates (your saved, personalized templates).
-
Select the template you want to delete, then click Delete
-
Enter the word DELETE in the empty field (in capital letters)
-
Confirm Now that your template has been deleted, you have a clean workspace.
Important Notes
- Permanent action: Template deletion cannot be undone
- Confirmation required: You must type "DELETE" in capital letters to confirm
- Organization: Regular cleanup helps maintain an organized workspace
- No impact on sent campaigns: Deleting a template will not affect already sent campaigns using that template
When to Delete Templates
- Outdated designs: Remove templates that no longer match your brand
- Duplicate templates: Clean up unnecessary copies
- Seasonal templates: Remove templates that are no longer relevant
- Test templates: Remove experimental or test templates
- Workspace management: Keep only actively used templates
Best Practices
- Review before deleting: Make sure you won't need the template in the future
- Export if necessary: Back up a copy of the HTML code if you might want to recreate it
- Regular cleanup: Periodically review and clean your template library
- Naming convention: Use clear names to easily identify templates to delete
Troubleshooting
I typed DELETE but nothing happens
- Make sure you typed "DELETE" in capital letters
- Check for extra spaces before or after the word
- Verify that you clicked the confirmation button after typing
- Try using a different browser if the problem persists
I accidentally deleted the wrong template
- Unfortunately, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- Check if you have a backup or exported version of the HTML
- Look for similar templates you can duplicate and modify
I can't find the templates to delete
- Make sure you're in the right account or sub-account
- Check all template categories and filters
- Verify that templates aren't hidden by search filters
- Look in both "My Templates" and shared templates sections
